The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) is the leading nonprofit organization defending civil liberties in the digital world. Founded in 1990, EFF champions user privacy, free expression, and innovation through impact litigation, policy analysis, grassroots activism, and technology development. EFF is seeking a Development Director to lead the organization's fundraising programs. The Development Director will oversee the day-to-day management and operations of the development team, manage all aspects of our development strategy and build our major donor and institutional giving fundraising capacity. The Development Director also serves as a member of the senior management team and works with the Board of Directors.
The Development Director leads the development team and is a member of the senior management team helping develop both short-term objectives and long-term vision for the organization. Successful candidates bring these qualities:
Requirements: Proven skill as a small or large team manager; at least five years of progressively responsible fundraising experience, including direct solicitation of foundation funders and major donors; public speaking and grant writing experience; and understanding of database management and gift processing.
Schedule and Location: This is a full-time exempt position at EFF’s offices in San Francisco. Applicants must be able to attend events in and around San Francisco, including some evening and weekend events. Applicants must be able to travel up to 10% of the time for events and donor meetings in other locations.
